The pair have dominated football’s individual accolades for well over a decade but with both men well into their 30s they have been snubbed by UEFA’s decision makers following difficult seasons for both players, who each took on new challenges.

The attacker has long been linked with a potential exit from the Spanish La Liga giants in what would eventually come as a huge blow on the club and their fans, but it looks as though he will be rescinding his decision after the rumors about his departure cooled off recently.
Messi was frustrated with some of the decisions made by the club’s former management and he announced that he was fed up and wanted to leave but was later convinced and encouraged to stay behind following the election of Juan Laporta as the new president of the club. One of the presidential candidates ahead of the next Barcelona elections has discussed the possibility of renaming the Nou Camp in honour of club skipper Lionel Messi who has served the club with distinction for the whole of his professional career till date. Emili Rousaud is one of the Barcelona presidential candidates and he’s bidding to be elected as the replacement for the immediate past president, Josep Maria Bartomeu. According to Emili Rousaud, he wants to hold a referendum on renaming the Nou Camp after Lionel Messi.
