MESSI ON FIFPRO NOMINEES LIST

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar Lionel Messi has been named on the nominees list for this year’s FIFPRO XI.  The recently crowned Ballond’Or winner was one of eight attackers on the 23-man list.

Lionel Messi was named on the list alongside KylianMbappe and Neymar, who are the  other members of the famed attacking trio at the Parc des Princes. The other five attackers are Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema,Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, Chelsea striker RomeluLukaku, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and Borussia Dortmund hitman ErlingHaaland.

Argentine senior national team skipperLionel Messi became aPSG player in the summer after his Barcelona contractended. He’s expected to be named in the FIFPRO XI when it’s revealed next month. Messi won his seventh Ballon d’Or title just ahead of Bayern Munich hitman Lewandowski at the end of last month. The little magician sealed his latestBallon d’Or title mainly due to his heroics for his countryat this year’s Copa America tournament. He led the two-time world champions to their first title in almost three decades at the home of arch rivals Brazil. Argentina won the Copa America tournament thanks to the 1-0 win over the Brazilians in the final. PSG winger Angel Di Maria was responsible for the goal that won the final clash with Brazil.

Messi’s club teammate GianlugiDonnaruma was one of the three nominees in the goalkeeping department alongsideChelsea player Edouard Mendy and Liverpool man Alisson Becker.

In midfield,the Barcelona duo of Sergio Busquets and Frenkie De Jong made the list alongside the Chelsea pair of Jorginho and N’GoloKante. The other midfield nominees are Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes. In defence, the Barcelona duo of Jordi Alba and Dani Alves were joined on the list by Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold,Juventus player Leonardo Bonucci, Real Madrid star David Alaba and Manchester City player Ruben Dias.
