MESSI CONGRATULATES CELTIC

Lionel Messi has said that Celtic was lucky to come out victorious in the recently played Champions League match against Barcelona. A few days back, Barcelona was defeated by Celtic by 2-1. But, even after losing that match, Barcelona remained at the no. 1 position in its group with 9 points in 4 matches. Celtic is at no. 2 with 7 points. Benfica and Spartak Moscow are at no. 3 and no. 4 positions respectively.

Talking to the reporters ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga match against Mallorca, Messi said, “The team is not demoralized due to that defeat. The players are relaxed. Our performance was not that bad the other day. We created quite a few goal scoring opportunities, but, we failed in giving them the finishing touch.”

“Their goal keeper should also be credited for putting up a great performance. He was just fantastic. It was one of the best goal keeping performances I have seen in the recent times.”

“We could have easily stopped them from scoring that second goal, but, unfortunately, Xavier Hernandez didn’t manage to judge that clearance from Forster and Tony Watt took the advantage.”

“After getting up by 2-0, they started playing with extremely defensive attitude and made it difficult for us to find the net.”

“There is nothing much to worry about at the moment. We are still at the no. 1 position in the group and one defeat isn’t going to matter much.”

Another Barcelona player, Cesc Fabregas admitted that the Celtic team played better than Barcelona in the match. Fabregas said, “We were below par today. We missed on a few goal scoring opportunities and we had to pay the price for it. We have to play two more games and we would try to secure victories in both of them.”
