TEBAS SAYS MESSI COULD LEAVE LA LIGA THIS SUMMER

While Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has continued to have his future hang in the balance, the Spanish La Liga president Javier Tebas has claimed that the Argentina international attacker could be set to quit the league this summer. Messi’s future remains in huge doubt and while Barcelona president Joan Laporta claims that the club have continued to do everything possible to tie him down to a new contract, it seems like there is a bigger problem than just convincing him to sign a new contract extension at the club according to the latest developments.

A report surfaced earlier in the week that Barcelona have already surpassed their salary payment range and will have to cut players off their wage bill. By doing that, Barca will have to sell a couple of players this summer, or else they won’t be able to register Messi as their player ahead of the upcoming 2021-22 Spanish La Liga season after he became a free agent on the 30th of June officially

Messi, Griezmann, Dembele, Braithwaite, Coutinho, Pique, and other senior players in the team are on huge wage bills and a couple of them will have to be looking for another club this summer in what looks like it will be a major summer clear-out at the club. Griezmann has particularly been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou this summer and is one of the first players on the list of likely departures after it was revealed that he earned just a little over €800,000 per week.

The France international attacker is one of the biggest earners at the club and is one whose departure will help ease the financial trouble Barcelona are currently facing. The former Atletico Madrid star has been linked with a move to the English Premier League, with Manchester City and Chelsea being touted as his likely destinations.
