It seems the good news that Barcelona fans have been waiting for has finally arrived as reports are currently claiming that Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is set to finally stay at the club. The attacker has long been linked with a potential exit from the Spanish La Liga giants in what would eventually come as a huge blow on the club and their fans, but it looks as though he will be rescinding his decision after the rumors about his departure cooled off recently.
Messi was frustrated with some of the decisions made by the club’s former management and he announced that he was fed up and wanted to leave but was later convinced and encouraged to stay behind following the election of Juan Laporta as the new president of the club. During his campaign, Laporta promised the fans that he would do everything in his power to ensure that Messi signs a new contract extension at the club and it looks like he has fulfilled his promise.
Aside from offering Messi fresh terms on a new contract, one other promise that Laporta made was that he would see to it that the club accelerate their attempts to sign top players who will help them achieve their goals and objectives for the following season. That also has been put in check as Barcelona have started conducting their summer transfer business activities.
They have confirmed the signing of Sergio Agüero who joins the club on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City as a free agent at the end of the season. They have also announced Eric Garcia as a new signing and have been in talks with Memphis Depay who left Lyon recently and Georginio Wijnaldum who is a free agent after his Liverpool contract expired at the end of the season.
