Barcelona’s star forward Neymar has come on out, to express his gratefulness to his colleague and football star, Lionel Messi for looking out for him when he first joined the Catalonian giants and didn’t know his way around things then.
Neymar joined up with Barcelona in 2013, after moving from his former club, Santos. However, his transition into the team at the early period wasn’t quite smooth as he faced some early challenges. It was Messi, according to Neymar, that took him under his wings, brushing him up and making him into the key figure he is today.
Speaking recently to CNN, Neymar had said,
“I have a nice story about Messi. Soon after I arrived, it was not a great moment in my career and he was the one who helped me.
“He saw that I was sad, with my head down, that things were not going right for me. He told me to keep going, to be happy and to play the way I know. He told me this and he helped me a lot at that moment in time. He is a person who I admire a lot.”
The trio of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, form a lethal attacking trident at the Camp Nou. For Neymar, he believes that this wouldn’t have been possible if they didn’t care, respect and remain friends with each other.
He went on to note how they were stars from different countries in the South American region, playing together for Barcelona, which he saw as something quite rare.
The Brazilian forward also talked about how they train together every day, and go on to help out on the pitch, hoping that it can continue this way for many more years, while they continue to make history both at the club and at their respective countries.
