Lionel Messihas not sustained a serious injury

Barcelona fans suffered an initial scare after seeing Lionel Messi being replaced in the 2nd half of his clubs’ match against Athletic Club as both clubs faced off on January 17 and Barcelona came out on top with a final scoreboard of 6-0 as the team of Luis Enrique claimed an overwhelmingly convincing triumph.

Even though Barcelona dominated this match with a convincing victory, there was something else which was on the mind of the supporters of the Spanish club and it was regarding Messi who was not able to play in the entirety of the game.

When the match reached it’s end, people began to speculate and wonder about the condition of the Argentine attacker.

The medical staff of Barcelona has now assured everyone that Messi only suffered a slight knock and that it’s not something serious.

Barcelona released an official statement on their social media platforms which read: “It turns out that the Argentinian has not got a hamstring injury and has just taken a bit of a knock. It is uncertain whether or not he will be available for future matches, but there is nothing major to worry about.”

Before the 2nd half of Barcelona’s match against Athletic Club had kicked off, Lionel Messi took a longer period of time on the dressing room as he began to feel a small pain in his right leg and Luis Enrique opted to not take any risks as he substituted Messi immediately after.

“Messi will have tests tomorrow; he has a small strain and had a little discomfort so we preferred not to take any risks. We spoke about it at half-time and with the scoreline as it was we did not want to take risks. I don’t like taking risks with any player, so imagine what it’s like with Messi.” Barcelona’s Luis Enrique said as he revealed details concerning his decision to switch Messi with ArdaTuran during their match against Athletic Club.

Fortunately for Barcelona, Messi did not sustain anything serious and he is expected to be back in action for his club.
